Our Global Gateway

Staff and pupils at Aintree Davenhill Primary School are celebrating the news that the school has gained the DCSF International School Award. 

The prestigious award recognises the school’s efforts to instil a global dimension into pupils’ learning experiences, which has included working with a number of partner schools across Europe.

Assistant Head Margaret Richards said, “We are absolutely delighted to have achieved the full International School Award to celebrate Aintree Davenhill’s commitment to internationalism.  Children and staff have benefited greatly from our international work and our partnership with schools in other countries has been the start of lasting friendships.”

The award was presented to Mrs Richards at a national event in London last week.

Aintree Davenhill is working towards an International Schools Award.   

Our partnership with schools in other parts of the world brings internationalism alive in our school in a dynamic, immediate way. We are developing an international dimension to our curriculum, making learning fun, relevant and equipping our children for life in a global society.

We are working with European school partners through Comenius, part of the EU Lifelong Learning Programme, enabling staff from Poland, Romania and Bulgaria to work together.

One of the most exciting aspects of our developing global dimension is the opportunity it provides for school activities and for staff to visit schools in other countries and to meet colleagues from other countries.
